Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled Cost Estimation Specialist to become a vital part of our energetic team at our headquarters in Sandon, Essex. The chosen candidate will collaborate closely with our leadership and management teams on diverse projects, including those involving historically significant structures and partnerships with housing associations for refurbishments and renovations.

As a member of our cohesive team of experienced professionals, you will oversee the complete estimating process, from initial inquiries to tender submission and adjudication. This role requires direct engagement with clients and engineers, necessitating expertise in estimating from foundational principles, as well as the ability to produce Bills of Quantities and Schedules of Work. A robust background in the construction field, exceptional problem-solving skills, and outstanding communication abilities are crucial. Familiarity with domestic projects and housing associations will be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct site visits for proposed construction initiatives.
  • Perform thorough site surveys and engage with stakeholders.
  • Analyze project blueprints and specifications.
  • Extract relevant information from drawings and tender documents to calculate costs for materials, labor, and subcontractor packages in accordance with established work programs and procurement schedules.
  • Solicit quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Prepare tenders for review and adjudication by directors.
  • Submit tenders and address any post-tender inquiries and value engineering proposals.
  • Provide commercial support on active contracts as required, including pricing variations, preparing valuations, and assisting with subcontract placements.
