The International Society for Bayesian Analysis is seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join our team in Manchester, UK. As part of our Human-AI Research Teams project, funded by the UKRI Turing AI World-Leading Researcher Fellowship programme, we aim to develop machine learning systems that assist in experimental design and decision-making.
Our research focuses on fundamental research in probabilistic modelling and Bayesian inference, applied to the challenges of steering machine learning systems, particularly when goals are not precisely specified. We are looking for a researcher who can contribute to the development of advanced user modelling, automatic experimental design, Bayesian inference, human-in-the-loop learning, machine teaching, privacy-preserving learning, reinforcement learning, and simulator-based inference.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects in medicine, especially cancer research and remote medicine; experimental design in synthetic biology and drug design; and digital twins. Our team will have excellent opportunities to collaborate with outstanding groups in various application fields.
We offer a great university environment with fluent collaboration and a new Fundamental AI Research Centre launching alongside existing AI activities, including the Turing Institute partnership with 27 Turing Fellows and ELLIS Fellows.
- Contribute to the development of probabilistic modelling and Bayesian inference methods for machine learning systems.
- Collaborate with our team to design and implement human-in-the-loop learning and machine teaching approaches.
