Retail Assistant Job Description

Gap Personnel is recruiting for a Retail Assistant to join a small friendly team in a local convenience store in Newton Abbot, Devon. This is a temporary to permanent vacancy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work on the shop floor of a retail store, interacting with customers and selling products or services.
  • Report to the shop manager and be responsible for maintaining a professional attitude and excellent personal presentation.
  • Handle customer questions and complaints, and process sales and accept stock deliveries.
  • Restock shelves and maintain the sales floor, monitoring the activities of people in the shop.
  • Resolve customer issues and conflicts in a professional manner.
Requirements:
  • Excellent customer service skills and an approachable, friendly personality.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to resolve conflicts and deal with difficult customers.
  • A proactive team worker who can liaise and cooperate with all members of staff.
Working Hours and Pay:
  • Monday to Friday and Sunday, 3 shifts per week, 3pm – 9pm.
  • £11.44 per hour.

Successful candidates will be expected to operate within the confines of company policy and procedure requirements, including integrity and confidentiality in respect of the business, and abide by health and safety legislation in respect of themselves and others.
