Role Overview

As a placement student in civil engineering, you will engage in daily site activities and report to senior engineers. You will collaborate with industry experts to deepen your understanding of your project, and with mentorship and coaching, you will face exciting challenges that will help you build a successful career in this dynamic field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake surveys and setting-out on site to ensure accurate measurements and quality control.
  • Prepare drawings and calculations to ensure compliance with engineering procedures and regulations.
  • Monitor construction progress to ensure that deadlines are being met and projects are delivered on time.
  • Liaise with clients and carry out site investigations to identify potential issues and develop solutions.
  • Coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, and other parties involved in the construction project to ensure that all work is completed according to specifications.
  • Liaise with quantity surveyors about the ordering and pricing of materials to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ensure that health and safety and sustainability policies and legislation are adhered to, and that all work is carried out in a responsible and environmentally friendly manner.

Requirements

  • Studying a Civil or Construction/Project Management Degree.
  • Hold a full UK driving license.
  • Passionate about starting a career in the civils industry.
  • High attention to detail coupled with meticulous planning and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in all aspects of engineering and a desire to work in a dynamic and innovative environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work flexibly in a team, and a strong work ethic.
