Biffa Waste Services is a leading provider of waste management solutions, and we're seeking a highly skilled Contractor Operations Manager to join our team.

About the Role

  • Oversee and guide the engineering team to achieve optimal performance, ensuring a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and leadership abilities.
  • Support the development of team members through skill-building and best practice implementation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Control and develop a planned preventative maintenance and inspection program to minimize downtime, record recurrent faulting, and engineer solutions.
  • Provide high operational availability and an efficient breakdown repair service, ensuring compliance with Group procedures.
  • Liaise with external contractors on specific repairs and maintenance work, controlling plant maintenance, spares, and consumable costs within budget.
  • Manage shift handovers to ensure effective communication of works orders and priorities, staying up-to-date with changes to health and safety and environmental legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies, processes, and procedures, reviewing maintenance activities and implementing corrective actions as required.
  • Monitor and control engineering team shift coverage, holidays, and absence reporting.

Requirements

  • Level 3 Qualified Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Budget/P&L management skills
