Mechanical Engineering Tutor

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineering tutor to join our teaching team at Liverpool John Moores University International Study Centre. As a Mechanical Engineering tutor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching to groups of international students, marking and providing feedback on a formative and summative basis, and acting as a Module Leader in relevant subject areas.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality teaching to groups of international students, ensuring that they receive a comprehensive and engaging learning experience.
- Undertake marking and feedback provision on a formative and summative basis, adhering to quality standards and processes.
- Act as a Module Leader in relevant subject areas, coordinating a team of tutors, updating module handbooks, preparing module assessment analysis, and reviewing reports and detailed schemes of work.
- Teach up to a maximum of 20 hours per week (teaching contact time) across several different modules on the engineering pathways.
- Ensure student punctuality, attendance, and appropriate behaviour in class/teaching rooms.
- Maintain accurate progression risk tracking and student performance data.
- Make every effort to secure the best performance from each student at their level both during their course and in final exams and assessments.
- Actively promote the creative use of TEL (technology-enhanced learning) and ensure the VLE (virtual learning environment) meets provider and university standards for the modules you teach.
- Create and update teaching materials, ensuring they are engaging and effective.
- Undertake projects as directed by the Head of Curriculum and Quality.
- Keep up to date with developments in academic teaching and skills, including the use of e-learning resources.
- Work in a collegial fashion and foster productive relations with ISC and HEI colleagues.
- Contribute towards continuing professional development and lead on relevant CPD sessions.
- Carry out any other duties as required by the Head of Subject.
We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in the subject area, a Master's degree in the subject area, and a relevant teaching qualification. Previous teaching experience in higher education, ideally to international students, is essential. Experience in developing and updating teaching materials, as well as experience of working with a Virtual Learning Environment, is also required.
