School Caretaker Role

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Caretaker to join our vibrant school community in East London. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff.

• Opening and closing the site, setting and resetting the alarm system
• Conducting regular fire alarm checks and ensuring compliance with safety protocols
• Performing general repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, carpentry, and painting
• Unblocking drains, fixing door and window handles, and replacing toilet seats
• Carrying out daily health and safety checks to ensure a secure environment
• Overseeing contractors on site and ensuring work is completed to high standards
• Providing porterage services, moving furniture, and delivering parcels around the building
• Litter picking, sweeping, emptying bins, and replenishing supplies
• Maintaining the school grounds and performing other duties as required

• Previous experience in a caretaker or maintenance role is preferred
• Ability to perform physical tasks and handle various handyperson duties
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and protocols
• Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
• Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
