As a French Language Teaching Assistant at Heath House Preparatory School, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and social development of our pupils.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes for pupils and monitoring their progress.
  • Providing support for individual pupils inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.
  • Reading with children as required and assisting with snack and drinks.
  • Providing clear daily feedback on intervention work with children and recording their progress.
  • Assisting class teachers with maintaining pupil records.
  • Supporting pupils with emotional or behavioural problems and developing their social skills.
  • Assisting with lunchtimes and break-times, including door duty.
  • Contributing to homework club and extra-curricular clubs.
  • Supervising play of children on the Heath and inside the classroom.
  • Supervising structured activities during Summer School.
  • Engaging with and enriching play with children in the EYFS.

Language Lessons

As applicable, you will:

  • Demonstrate an excellent knowledge of the French language.
  • Accurately plan and deliver one language lesson per class each week, in line with the Heath House curriculum.
  • Mark all work accurately, in line with the school's Marking Policy.

Administrative Duties

  • Prepare and present displays of pupils' work.
  • Support class teachers with photocopying and other tasks.
  • Check and notify the office of essential resources running out.
  • Keep up to date with school policy documents.

Standards and Quality Assurance

  • Act in a professional manner at all times.
  • Support the aims, ethos, and values of the school.
  • Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality, attendance, and behaviour.
  • Attend school events, including performances, fayres, Parents' Evenings, trips, and overnight residential trips.
  • Keep records effectively in relation to school expectations.
  • Comply with the school's Health & Safety policy and Equal Opportunities Policy.
  • Take an active role in your own professional development, attending all appropriate training courses offered by Heath House.
