Yard Operations Coordinator

As a key member of the Transport Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a smooth transition when loading and unloading trailers, as well as maintaining and ensuring safety at all times.
Key Responsibilities- Adhere to company rules, site procedures, and all aspects of Health & Safety and Hygiene at all times.
- Effectively manage own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive.
- Liaise with colleagues and ensure completion of shift report.
- Conduct daily checks, immediately report any defects and/or damage, and complete associated documentation.
- Carry out trailer checks on loaded trailers and report to ops staff.
- Complete trailer checklist and report to operations desk.
- Carry out shunting duties, including relevant maintenance and safety checks.
- Liaise with warehouse control and goods-in staff to ensure smooth and efficient loading/unloading of trailers.
- Complete vehicle downloads as per company policy.
- Monitor services/MOTs – liaise with Transport Office and with service vendor.
- Assist with fuel delivery/manual dip of fuel.
- Keep yard in clean/tidy condition.
- Liaise with Transport Office as and when required (e.g. special promotions and/or livery schedules).
- Manage the flow of traffic in and out of the yard.
- Attention to detail/accurate.
- Ability to work without direct supervision.
- Adaptable and methodical approach to work/training.
- Conscientious and reliable.
- Excellent communication skills to deliver accurate information.
- Able to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
- Effectively prioritise workload to meet set deadlines.
- Able to work as part of a team or individually.
- Able to work effectively and communicate to the correct level.
- Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers' hours.
- Professional, approachable, and helpful to ensure smooth running of the general operation.
- Maintain a high standard of behaviour and appearance.
