Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our team at Parkside Recruitment Limited. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for leading the day-to-day financial activities related to inventory control and reporting of cost of sales.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Prepare month-end accounts, budgeting & forecasting, balance sheet reconciliations, standard cost calculations, and meet audit and year-end statutory accounting requirements.
  • Work with the Supply Chain team to ensure accurate inventory control and reporting.
  • Lead the financial audit in relation to stock checks and inventory reconciliation.
  • Implement audit recommendations and ensure robust internal controls.

**Reporting Requirements:**

  • Provide monthly inventory analysis (levels and changes).
  • Manufacturing cost variance analysis.
  • Accumulate and apply overhead costs using robust accounting principles.

**Cost Accounting:**

  • Update standard costs in the bill of materials.
  • Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies.
  • Validate the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close.
  • Work with the materials review board to locate and dispose of obsolete inventory.
  • Complete annual inventory revaluations.

**Reconciliations:**

  • Reconcile balance sheet for areas in scope, including inventory.
  • Responsible for reconciliations and stock checks of components, WIP, semi-finished goods, and finished goods.
  • Calculate stock provisions.
  • Making true-up and revaluation adjustments to ensure that bulk supplied from OPC is valued in accordance with transfer pricing policy.

**Central Distribution Hub Accounting:**

  • Account for stock movements between packaging plants and Arvato and from Arvato to customers.
  • Reconcile stock movements at the packaging plants and Arvato.
  • Reconcile stock movements with sales transactions at Arvato.
  • Monitor, reconcile, and resolve discrepancies with Arvato on a regular basis during the month.
  • Ensure controls over inventory are robust and movements are recorded accurately.

**Requirements:**

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA), preferably with a relevant Finance or Accounting degree.
  • Broad Finance and Accounting experience with operational business experience.
  • Previous experience with inventory management and standard costing preferred.

**Technical Skills & Experience:**

  • Advanced level in MS Office packages, integrated accounting systems including SAP, and related transactional, report-generating software.
  • Understands what constitutes good internal control and governance.
  • Broad and in-depth Finance knowledge with the ability to communicate financial information clearly to individuals with limited finance knowledge and provide definitive financial advice.
