Job Purpose:

The Fire Safety Advisor will provide expert guidance to senior management and the Board to ensure the organization meets statutory obligations under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. The post-holder will coordinate fire risk assessments, inspections, and training, ensuring compliance and safety across all Trust premises.

  1. Ensure compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
  2. Maintain and implement an up-to-date Fire Safety Policy across the organization.
  3. Coordinate and, when necessary, conduct fire risk assessments and inspections.
  4. Investigate the causes of fires and unwanted fire signals, reporting as required.
  5. Provide fire safety statistics, trend analyses, and reports for various committees.
  6. Plan and deliver comprehensive fire safety training for all staff, including out-of-hours sessions.
  7. Work with estates, building control, fire authorities, and architects regarding fire safety in new and existing buildings.
  8. Ensure fire evacuation drills are conducted regularly across departments.
  9. Liaise with contractors regarding fire safety systems maintenance.
  10. Actively participate in cross-team collaboration to improve fire safety practices.
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
  1. Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring personal safety and that of others.
  2. Report any hazards, incidents, or unsafe practices in accordance with organizational policies.
Essential Qualifications:
  1. Relevant Fire Safety Qualification (e.g., Fire Service College, Fire Safety Engineering, Safety Management Degree).
  2. Graduate or Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) or Institute of Fire Prevention Officers (IFPO).
Essential Knowledge/Experience:
  1. At least 5 years of management experience, with at least 2 years in a fire safety role.
  2. In-depth knowledge of fire safety legislation, Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs), and Building Regulations.
  3. Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management.
Desirable Qualifications:
  1. Possession of a Health & Safety Diploma.
  2. Fire investigation course certification.
Desirable Experience/Skills:
  1. Presentation skills and basic numerical data analysis.
  2. Familiarity with British Standards on fire safety equipment, fire alarms, and signage.
  3. Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities, with excellent decision-making skills.
