We are seeking a highly skilled Japanese Linguist to join our team at Toppan Digital Language. As a key player in our translation workflow, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards in our language solutions.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese language and culture, with excellent attention to detail and fluency in multiple languages. You will work closely with our project management team to deliver high-quality translations, proofread and QA documents, and collaborate with other team members to achieve our goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specialized linguistic services, including translation, proofreading, and quality assurance.
  • Track and monitor translation quality, identifying potential quality issues and trends.
  • Support the project management team with short-notice and urgent requests from clients.
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Mentor and assist new staff members, performing reviews of their work.
  • Create, adapt, and maintain language-specific style guides and linguistic resources.
  • Drive linguistic and technical initiatives to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and workshops.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Translation/Interpretation.
  • Native speaker of Japanese and fluent in English. Native English speakers with a high level of Japanese may also be considered.
  • Qualification in medical translation preferred.
  • At least 1-2 years of proven experience in professional translation.
Skills
  • Advanced research skills for checking terms and finding reputable terminology sources.
  • Proficient working knowledge of translation management software.
  • Experience in translating various file formats (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, XML, InDesign).
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, professional translations.
  • Ability to focus and consistently perform translation and quality assurance tasks efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage stress and work under pressure, aiming at achieving the best balance between quality and speed.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to new challenges in a fast-paced international environment.
