Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Quantum Development Engineer to join our team at Barrington James. As a key member of our quantum technology team, you will be responsible for the development and characterization of quantum dot and spin qubit systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Characterize Quantum Dot and Spin Qubit Systems: Design, develop, and characterize scalable quantum dot arrays compatible with spin readout, and contribute to the development of scalable quantum dot arrays.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with the physics team and circuit designers to provide feedback and enhance qubit structures, excitation and sensing systems, and circuits.
  • Conduct Research and Development: Participate in the development of qubit technology and overall laboratory administration, and contribute to the characterization of quantum dots and spin qubits.
  • Communicate Effectively: Communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and work in a team environment to achieve shared goals.

Requirements:

  • PhD in a Relevant Scientific Discipline: A PhD degree or equivalent experience in a relevant scientific discipline, such as physics, materials science, or electrical engineering, with a proven track record in the field of quantum technologies and semiconductor technologies.
  • Expertise in Quantum Technologies: Clear knowledge of semiconductor qubit architectures, particularly spin qubits, and understanding of quantum dots and spin qubits, including the ability to program and solve relevant models.
  • Experience with Semiconductor Device Characterization: Experience with semiconductor device characterization and quantum dot characterization, and strong communication skills to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
