Clinical Psychologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our Stroke Service team. As a Clinical Psychologist, you will be responsible for providing psychological assessments, treatments, and advice on the management of stroke patients while in hospital and during their rehabilitation in the community.
Main Duties:- Provide specialist psychological assessments and treatments to stroke patients, including cognitive and emotional assessments, and develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide advice and consultation on clients' psychological care, and participate in Continuing Professional Development and other developmental activities.
- Conduct research and audit to inform service development and improvement, and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
- Undertake administrative responsibilities to enable effective clinical practice and the efficient running of the service.
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments of clients in the stroke service, including the use of standardized tests and measures, and develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options, taking into account complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family, or group.
- Undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients, and provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.
- Act as case manager or care co-ordinator where appropriate, ensuring the provision of a care package appropriate for the client's needs, coordinating the work of others involved with care, and communicating effectively with the client, their family, and all others involved in the network of care.
- Plan and organize a personal caseload to ensure that service needs and priorities are met, and deliver that service at all appropriate levels.
- Provide expertise, advice, and support to facilitate the effective and appropriate provision of psychological care by all members of the treatment team.
We are looking for a qualified Clinical Psychologist with a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or equivalent, and current eligibility for Chartered Clinical Psychology status. The ideal candidate will have experience of supervising other psychology staff, and experience in neuro-psychology, particularly with clients who have challenging behaviour.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team. They will also have the ability to concentrate intensely for a substantial proportion of working time, and manage effectively verbal aggression from service users, families, etc.
