About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Tax Director to lead our Transaction Taxes team at Forvis Mazars. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving the growth and development of our transaction tax practice, providing expert advice to clients on complex tax matters, and leading a team of tax professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service Delivery
    • Lead the delivery of complex tax due diligence assignments, including corporation tax due diligence services, and provide expert advice to clients on tax matters.
    • Liaise with colleagues in VAT, employment taxes, and other specialist tax services to project manage the overall tax due diligence services.
    • Work collaboratively with our transaction services team to win new combined financial and tax due diligence projects.
    • Build client relationships through engagements and proactively pursue opportunities identified through due diligence assignments to support clients post-deal.
  • Service Delivery - M&A Structuring Advice
    • Lead on the provision of tax advisory structuring services to clients, with responsibilities for successfully delivering complex tax advisory assignments.
    • Be the main day-to-day point of contact on a portfolio of M&A tax advisory clients.
    • Owning the overall client relationship, scoping assignments tailored to client needs, negotiating fees.
    • Co-ordinate with the deal advisory team to provide a seamless client service on combined M&A projects.
    • Ensure our advice is properly reflected in all aspects of the transaction through communication with clients and their lawyers/advisers.
  • Strategic and Operational Leadership
    • Help shape the future of the transactions tax team, working alongside existing transaction tax partners to design and implement a strategy to support the growth of the transactions tax team.
    • Enhance deliverables and processes to drive quality, including supporting team training.
    • People responsibilities for key transaction taxes team members, providing support with their personal and professional development, appraisals, and wider performance management.
Requirements
  • Holds relevant professional qualification such as ACA or CTA (or equivalent).
  • Strong technical knowledge of key tax issues that affect companies and shareholders on a transaction.
  • Experience in transactions, with a strong track record of leading teams on complex assignments.
  • Strong project management skills, with a track record of delivering high-quality results.
  • Provides assistance, shares experience, provides meaningful feedback, and proactively supports the development of others.
  • Broad experience of managing the financials on clients, monitoring financial performance, identifying overruns, and successfully negotiating fees with clients.
