Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Premier Group Recruitment. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing electrical control circuits, selecting components and cables, and adhering to internal and regulatory electrical drawing systems and standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Manage all aspects of retrofit electrical design, including liaison with customers and suppliers, onsite electrical supervision of contractors, and onsite electrical commissioning of projects.
  • Design Work: Design and draw electrical control circuits, select components and cables, and develop electrical drawings from new sheets to red line updates.
  • Critical Skills and Personal Attributes:
    • 5-10 years' experience in an engineering/design office and commissioning of capital machinery.
    • Experience in design and construction of electrical circuits and control panels.
    • Proficiency in control panel design within an Electrical CAD package (such as AutoCAD Electrical, Promis-e, ECAD).
    • Knowledge of relevant British and European EN Regulations.
    • US regulations would be desirable.
    • Computer literate in Microsoft applications.
    • Experience in using an ERP system would be useful.
    • Experience of Siemens PLC programming or fault finding would be desirable.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to explain instructions and procedures to vendors and customers.
    • Availability for retrofit work on sites when applicable, including supervision and commissioning of projects to completion.
  • Education: HNC/HND or BEng. Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: Practical/hands-on understanding of engineering gained through 5-10 years of experience in a drawing office, including detail design work to EN60204, functional safety ISO13849, component and cable selection, and experience in one or more of the following: pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, rotating machinery and variable frequency drives, commissioning of machinery, and experience of working on capital machinery would be desirable.

Travel: The successful candidate will be required to travel worldwide, with the possibility of travel at short notice.
