Position Overview

Winston Fox is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Architect to lead and manage technical cybersecurity initiatives within a newly established IT department for a global Trading & Logistics firm.

This position is crucial for the development and upkeep of a strong and effective cybersecurity strategy, in accordance with the NIST 2.0 framework, while also overseeing cybersecurity partnerships and threat intelligence projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and sustain a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy that complies with the NIST 2.0 framework and industry-leading practices.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of cybersecurity partners, ensuring their services meet our security standards and objectives.
  • Conduct ongoing risk evaluations and vulnerability assessments to pinpoint potential security weaknesses and threats.
  • Create and enforce security policies, procedures, and controls to reduce risks and ensure adherence to applicable regulations and standards.
  • Remain informed about current and emerging cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies, and proactively apply countermeasures.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to embed security considerations into software development, infrastructure, and business operations.
  • Investigate and address security incidents, perform forensic investigations, and implement corrective actions.
  • Possess expertise in cloud security principles and technologies (e.g., cloud access security brokers, cloud workload protection, cloud security posture management).
  • Have hands-on experience with security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) platforms.
  • Be familiar with extended detection and response (XDR) solutions for integrated threat detection and response.
  • Understand threat intelligence platforms, threat hunting techniques, and cyber threat analysis.
  • Hold a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) or similar ethical hacking certification.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in cybersecurity roles, demonstrating a successful track record in implementing effective security programs.
  • Thorough understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and regulations (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, GDPR).
  • Expertise in areas such as network security, application security, cloud security, incident response, and threat intelligence.
  • Strong knowledge of security technologies and tools, including firewalls, IPS/IDS, SIEM, EDR, and vulnerability management solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) and security automation tools.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking abilities, with the capacity to make informed decisions in high-pressure environments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proven project management capabilities, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and lead cross-functional teams.

Desired Experience/Qualifications:

  • GIAC certifications from SANS Institute (e.g., GSEC, GCIH, GPEN, GXPN).
  • Cloud security certifications (e.g., CCSP, CCSK, CISSP concentration in cloud security).
  • Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) solutions.
  • Familiarity with deception technologies, honeypots, and cyber deception strategies.
  • Knowledge of secure software development life cycle (SDLC) and application security testing methodologies.
  • Understanding of data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and compliance frameworks.

The ideal candidate will possess a well-rounded skill set that includes cloud security, automation, extended detection and response, threat intelligence, application security, and ethical hacking. Certifications from recognized organizations such as SANS Institute and cloud security vendors are highly valued, along with practical experience in areas like SOAR, XDR, SOC operations, and secure SDLC practices.
