Cleaning Operative

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Cleaning and Catering Operative to join our team at York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (LLP). As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the hospital.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Maintaining levels of cleanliness throughout designated areas, including lifting items and operating cleaning machinery.
- Undertaking specialist cleaning tasks as required, under the guidance of the Facilities Supervisor and/or Nurse in Charge.
- Using machinery and equipment safely and efficiently, in accordance with training and guidelines.
- Ensuring all cleaning materials and disposables are used economically and stored securely.
- Using colour-coded equipment to prevent cross-contamination.
This is a permanent position, working 12 hours per week. Additional hours may be available for those who wish to work them. We offer a range of benefits, including access to the NHS Pension Scheme, 27 days holiday rising to 33 days, and a generous relocation package for hard-to-fill positions.
Person SpecificationThe ideal candidate will have:
- Able to read, write and converse in English.
- Able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Experience of working in the cleaning industry (desirable).
