Equity Derivatives Trader

CMC Markets seeks a skilled Equity Derivatives Trader to join our dynamic trading team.
This role focuses on executing hedging strategies aligned with the firm's established framework, contributing to one of our core strategic initiatives. You will play a vital part in managing risk across a diverse range of instruments while adhering to our strict risk policy and capital constraints.
Responsibilities:
- Execute hedging strategies for Equity Derivatives, ensuring alignment with the firm's framework.
- Manage exposures (Spot, volatility etc.) across the global trading book, proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks.
- Monitor financial markets, assess potential risks to the book, and implement proactive hedging measures. Communicate these findings effectively to the team.
- Oversee operational aspects of the Derivatives trading book, collaborating closely with middle and back office teams to resolve any issues.
- Develop and implement processes to enhance efficiency within the Derivatives pillar.
- Liaise with support functions (Finance, Risk, Regulatory) on position reporting, analysis, and PnL evaluation.
- Contribute to the creation of innovative solutions and tools to support the trading function.
- Stay abreast of market changes and ensure the adequacy of CMC's hedging and inventory management strategies.
- Collaborate with client-facing staff to effectively promote the Derivatives desk's offerings to its target audience.
- Monitor client flow and positions, understanding the drivers behind inherited risk.
- Work alongside Derivatives Quants to develop and back-test new risk management strategies.
- Partner with the Derivatives Development team to improve automated tools for monitoring and alerting on key trading metrics. Provide quality assurance for system changes before deployment.
- Adhere to compliance and company procedures.
Qualifications:
- A graduate degree in quantitative finance, mathematics, computer science, or equivalent disciplines.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- 1 to 3 years of experience as a Market Maker, Flow Trader, or Quant/Algo Trader, preferably in Equity Derivatives.
- Excellent knowledge of general financial products, including futures and options.
- Proficiency in Excel, VBA, and Python.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Knowledge of Bloomberg information systems.
