Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Council is seeking a Civil Engineering Surveyor to enhance our Investment and Compliance Team. This role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis, with a competitive salary range of £42,403 - £49,498 per annum (pro rata for part-time).
Position Summary
As a key member of our team, you will embody our values and dedication to improving the lives of our residents and communities. You will report directly to the Head of Investment and Compliance, overseeing the civil engineering responsibilities related to our housing and corporate assets, which encompass sewage treatment facilities, pumping stations, drainage systems, and parking areas.
This position includes participation in an out-of-hours emergency response rotation.
Candidate Profile
- Possession of an RICS accredited surveying degree or at least an HNC qualification along with a NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety is preferred.
- We are in search of seasoned Surveyors with a comprehensive understanding of relevant building legislation, including CDM and Health and Safety regulations.
- A solid technical foundation in housing properties and their components, as well as expertise in identifying building defects and estimating repair costs, is essential.
- As a collaborative team member, you should exhibit strong problem-solving abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent organizational and communication skills.
- A valid driving license is mandatory for fulfilling the responsibilities of this position.
Required Experience
- Extensive experience in both housing and corporate property sectors.
- Proficiency in design software such as Autodesk, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and MicroStation.
- Experience in civil engineering services within social housing or similar sectors.
- Proven track record of delivering civil engineering projects in alignment with the RIBA Plan of Work Framework.
- Experience managing multiple high-value budgets.
- Familiarity with mapping and photo imaging software.
- Understanding of statutory, regulatory, and best practice standards in civil engineering.
- Knowledge of contract law, construction regulations, and building practices.
- Experience in contract procurement and mobilization.
- Strong numerical and data analysis capabilities.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with effective decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated project and contract management expertise.
