Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesAs a Clinical Support Worker, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting patients with personal care, nutrition, and fluid management.
- Reporting to and supporting the registered nurse.
- Maintaining a clean and tidy environment.
- Following infection prevention guidance.
University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust operates from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal. We also provide community healthcare services from various premises, including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
Our hospitals offer a range of General Hospital services, including Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and Consultant-led services. We also provide planned care, including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case, and inpatient surgery, as well as local outreach services and diagnostics from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our community services for adults are provided in people's homes, community centers, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals, and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health, and manage their conditions through high-quality care, advice, and support.
Person SpecificationTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience working in a care setting.
- Manual handling experience with patients.
Desirable qualifications and skills include:
- Completion of the NHS Care Certificate or equivalent relevant experience to level 3.
- IT qualification.
Essential skills and knowledge include:
- Knowledge of personal care and related procedures.
- Able to maintain accurate patient records.
- Able to work on own initiative with limited supervision, as well as part of a team.
- Effective communication and reporting skills.
Desirable skills and knowledge include:
- Able to deliver a range of clinical care duties, clinical observations, blood glucose monitoring, ECGs, simple wound dressings.
