Job Title: Dispensary Sr Pharmacy Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Dispensary Sr Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the workload and coordinating the workflow for sterile and non-sterile dispensing in the technical services unit, ensuring a safe and responsive service.

Key Responsibilities:Technical Services
  • Assist with managing the workload and co-ordinating the workflow for sterile and non-sterile dispensing in the technical services unit.
  • Liaise with Chemotherapy day unit staff to support the workflow.
  • Assist with generating reports on technical services unit performance, including dispensing errors and other incidents.
  • Maintain effective communication links with Principal Pharmacist, Principal Technician, and Quality Assurance Manager to ensure practices reflect adherence to GMP and section 10 requirements.
  • Help ensure that all legal and procedural requirements are met and that all records are maintained.
Staff Management
  • Supervise staff working in the technical services unit, including technicians, assistants, pre-reg pharmacists, and PTPTs.
  • Assist with the deployment of staff in the technical services unit, including contribution to weekly rotas and approval of annual leave and lieu time.
  • Assist with managing performance and all other human resource issues for technicians and assistants working in technical services.
Training and Development
  • Ensure that all technical services and rotational staff receive appropriate induction, on-going training, and validation.
  • Undertake day-to-day training, supervision, and assessment of Pre-reg Technicians.
  • Assist with training, supervision, and assessment of Pharmacists rotating through technical services.
Other Duties
  • Participate in recruitment and selection of pharmacy technicians and assistants.
  • Dispensary cover as required.
  • Participation in weekend and bank holiday duties and late duty.

Requirements:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Dispensary Sr Pharmacy Technician with a strong background in technical services and staff management. The ideal candidate will have a BTEC or NVQ 3 Pharmaceutical Sciences equivalent recognised qualification and recent relevant BAND 4 Technician experience in NHS Technical services.
