About the Role

As an Occupational Therapist with the Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust, you will be part of a dynamic team that delivers a service which supports and promotes the health and development of children and young people who experience barriers to participation in everyday occupations.

The service is open to all children and young people aged 0-19 with a range of needs. You will work alongside therapy colleagues and other agency partners to deliver a service that supports and promotes the health and development of children and young people who experience barriers due to physical disability, social communication challenges, or other specific developmental differences.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deliver assessment and therapy in a range of settings, including schools, children's centres, homes, nurseries, and clinics.
  • Provide comprehensive written clinical reasoning in all documentation.
  • Work autonomously, with an understanding of safe lone working, across various settings.
  • Develop and deliver clear, goal-focused care plans using evidence-based practice and specialist skills and knowledge.
  • Work collaboratively with children, young people, and their families to support their development and facilitate them in achieving their aspirations.

Person Specification
  • Education and Qualification:
    • Recognised Occupational Therapy Degree qualification or equivalent.
    • Registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
    • Registered Member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists & College of Occupational Therapists.
  • Previous Experience:
    • Relevant experience and practice in Paediatric Occupational Therapy.
    • Knowledge of paediatric occupational therapy equipment.
  • Skills and Knowledge:
    • Knowledge of a broad range of assessment tools relevant to the specialist client group.
    • Knowledge of range of appropriate therapeutic interventions (relevant to client group).
    • Knowledge of the standards of record keeping.
    • Knowledge and experience of implementing SEND reforms, including outcome-focused EHCP assessment.
    • Awareness of Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards.
  • Attitudes, Aptitudes, Personal Characteristics:
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills with professionals, children/young people, and their families.
