About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Process Operator to join our client's manual manufacturing plant in Suffolk. This is a permanent, shift-based position, working a rotating schedule of 12-hour day and night shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow process controls and work to production schedules to mix and manufacture large quantity batches of fine chemicals and polymers.
  • Use multi-purpose reactors and ancillary equipment to meet required production output, while upholding agreed standards of quality.
  • Work as a tight-knit shift team to effectively manufacture batches of chemicals.
  • Follow strict guidelines, H&S protocols, and instructions to the letter.
  • Take an active interest in your own learning and development in the role.
  • Pack non-bulk powders and liquids to appropriate vessels.
  • Facilitate the transfer of manufactured bulk batches to IBCs or tankers.
  • Unload and transfer liquid raw materials from road tankers to storage vessels.
  • Manually operate plant machinery.
  • Uphold excellent, clear communication with colleagues both on-shift and within other departments.
  • Report any issues that arise to the Production Manager.
Requirements
  • A responsible person who understands the importance of following procedures and maintaining health and safety standards.
  • Literate, numerate, and able to communicate clearly and follow both verbal and written instructions accurately and consistently.
  • A formal qualification in science (preferably chemistry), such as a GCSE, A Level, HND, or BSc, would be an advantage, although experience in a relevant manufacturing industry is acceptable as an alternative.
  • Preferably some experience of the operational requirements of a manufacturing environment, or an ability to demonstrate a sound understanding of the key issues.
  • Preferably some knowledge of COSHH and the Health & Safety at Work Act.
  • Ability to operate or be trained to operate a counterbalance forklift truck.
  • A confident, enthusiastic learner who has patience and understands learning can be a long process.
  • A friendly, hard-working nature, and a willingness to be part of a small, close-knit team.
Working Conditions

This role operates on a 12-hour weekly rotating shift pattern, with day shifts from Monday to Thursday and night shifts from Monday to Wednesday.

Salary and Benefits

The annual salary on offer, inclusive of shift allowance, ranges between £25,000 - £38,000 per annum, depending on relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.

Our client offers a range of benefits, including increased holiday allowance with service, death in service, life assurance, and a pension scheme at 4% employer contribution.
