About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Outreach Officer to join our team at Discovering42, a pioneering nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting science, art, and sustainability in Cornwall.

As an Outreach Officer, you will play a key role in developing and delivering our Mobile Marvels Exhibition and a series of hands-on workshops, both in Bodmin and across Cornwall. You will work closely with our team and volunteers to design and build exhibits, develop new workshops, and oversee the day-to-day running of our outreach program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver engaging science and sustainability-themed workshops for various age groups and learning levels.
  • Contribute to the development of exhibits and workshops, ensuring they are safe, maintained, and in good working order.
  • Coordinate with councils, organizations, and schools to schedule bookings and promote the exhibition and workshops.
  • Oversee health and safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, and ensure all safety measures are in place.
  • Unload and set up the exhibition at each location, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
Requirements
  • A proactive and enthusiastic attitude, with a passion for community, sustainability, and science education.
  • Experience in public speaking, education, outreach, or a related field.
  • Confident DIY/maker skills and strong organizational and logistical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
