The Role: Director of Building Surveying

We are seeking an experienced Director of Building Surveying to join our leadership team in Scotland. You will play a pivotal role in leading our dynamic team of building surveyors, CDM advisors, quality control specialists, and PFI advisors. We serve both the private and public sectors across a wide range of projects.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Lead, manage, and mentor an expanding team of building surveying professionals.
  • Develop and expand our client base within key sectors.
  • Manage and support the team engaged on existing projects to ensure successful delivery.
  • Formulate and implement a local growth plan in consultation with senior directors, driving team performance and expansion.
  • Oversee recruitment, supervision, and development of staff within your allocated teams, collaborating closely with line managers.
  • Proactively market Currie & Brown locally and nationally, identifying new business opportunities and clients aligned with our strategic objectives.
  • Contribute to bid-winning efforts, including drafting proposals and participating in key industry events.
  • Implement and monitor relevant administrative systems and customer care standards.
  • Manage the administration of your teams, ensuring compliance with company guidelines for facilities and working practices.
  • Take responsibility for adhering to the company's health and safety policy and other relevant policies.

Skills and Attributes We Seek:

  • A BSc in Building Surveying or an equivalent qualification.
  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) is preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of technical delivery experience gained within a construction consultancy environment.
  • Proficiency in IT tools such as AutoCAD, NBS, MS Project, Outlook, Word, Excel, and other bespoke software.
  • Significant experience and demonstrable success in a similar role.
  • A strong understanding of the local and national marketplace.
  • Excellent technical writing, client-facing, and communication skills.
  • Highly organized, diligent, proactive, assertive, and willing to work collaboratively within a supportive team environment.
  • A proven ability to win work and drive business growth.
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to excellence.
