The Role: Director of Building Surveying
We are seeking an experienced Director of Building Surveying to join our leadership team in Scotland. You will play a pivotal role in leading our dynamic team of building surveyors, CDM advisors, quality control specialists, and PFI advisors. We serve both the private and public sectors across a wide range of projects.
As a successful candidate, you will:
- Lead, manage, and mentor an expanding team of building surveying professionals.
- Develop and expand our client base within key sectors.
- Manage and support the team engaged on existing projects to ensure successful delivery.
- Formulate and implement a local growth plan in consultation with senior directors, driving team performance and expansion.
- Oversee recruitment, supervision, and development of staff within your allocated teams, collaborating closely with line managers.
- Proactively market Currie & Brown locally and nationally, identifying new business opportunities and clients aligned with our strategic objectives.
- Contribute to bid-winning efforts, including drafting proposals and participating in key industry events.
- Implement and monitor relevant administrative systems and customer care standards.
- Manage the administration of your teams, ensuring compliance with company guidelines for facilities and working practices.
- Take responsibility for adhering to the company's health and safety policy and other relevant policies.
Skills and Attributes We Seek:
- A BSc in Building Surveying or an equivalent qualification.
- Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) is preferred.
- A minimum of 15 years of technical delivery experience gained within a construction consultancy environment.
- Proficiency in IT tools such as AutoCAD, NBS, MS Project, Outlook, Word, Excel, and other bespoke software.
- Significant experience and demonstrable success in a similar role.
- A strong understanding of the local and national marketplace.
- Excellent technical writing, client-facing, and communication skills.
- Highly organized, diligent, proactive, assertive, and willing to work collaboratively within a supportive team environment.
- A proven ability to win work and drive business growth.
- A team player with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to excellence.
