We are seeking an exceptional Lead Systems Engineer to enhance our capabilities at Subsea 7. This role is integral to our Systems Engineering division, focusing on delivering technically sound and optimized system solutions for significant projects within the GPC organization.

The Lead Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in defining system functional requirements, making critical design decisions, managing technical interfaces, mitigating risks, and implementing design validation processes to ensure effective and purpose-driven design solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Articulate and communicate system design and functional requirements clearly.
  • Understand and convey design drivers and decision-making criteria.
  • Oversee the technical coordination of discipline work-scopes that encompass the function and design of all system components.
  • Ensure mechanical and functional compatibility and consistency throughout the system.
  • Manage design trades to optimize system performance in relation to identified drivers and decision-making criteria.
  • Grasp client drivers and incorporate them into design and equipment selection.
  • Apply a holistic system perspective to various activities, including PFDs, schematics, block diagrams, field layout, production assurance, flow assurance, reliability modeling, testing philosophies, material selection, and process safety management.
  • Support the Tender team in interpreting client requirements and developing execution strategies.
  • Identify, assess, and manage key technical risks, ensuring that critical risks are documented and escalated as necessary.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Subsea 7, showcasing our technical solutions and unique advantages.

Desired Experience:

Candidates should possess a strong technical background coupled with commercial insight.

  • Background in Systems Engineering.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary technical teams on subsea projects.
  • Experience in managing interfaces within engineering teams, including various technical disciplines, project management, clients, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with collaborative working practices.
  • Prior experience in Design Leadership or Project Management.
  • Significant experience in areas such as Subsea Engineering, Flow Assurance, Production Operations, or Project Engineering.
  • Experience in hardware package delivery, including systems, controls, pipelines, and manifolds.
  • Knowledge of installation processes.
