Job Summary:

CapeClarke is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Motor Crime Defence & Regulatory Solicitor to join our team in Manchester. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for defending motor crime inquests and regulatory matters, working closely with our clients to deliver first-class legal solutions to complex problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze prosecution evidence, considering implications for clients and companies
  • Draft statements of insured witnesses and review client evidence, obtaining, collating, indexing, and cross-referencing with own statements and prosecution statements
  • Liaise with courts, coroner's offices, and regulatory bodies, such as the CQC, Police, and HSE
  • Work with experts, instructing own experts, summarizing expert evidence, and serving reports
  • Serve defence case statements, sentencing bundles, and mitigation bundles
  • Draft written submissions, following liaison with clients and corporate clients
  • Liaise with clients regarding prosecution cases and disclosure requirements
  • Review transcripts of evidence and organize conferences and meetings, drafting notes of discussion and following agreed strategies
  • Attend interviews under caution, trials, and inquests, drafting notes of evidence, outcomes, and sentencing
  • Arrange meetings, conferences, site visits, and expert appointments
  • Collate evidence and prepare bundles, reviewing medical records, post-mortem reports, and CCTV footage
  • Attend sites, take photos, and draft basic statements
  • Research relevant HSE guidelines and client corporate structures, procedures, risk assessments, and documents
  • Ensure compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct
  • Prepare written reports and advice for clients
