Purchase Ledger Clerk Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our team at Cammell Laird. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for the accurate processing of supplier invoices, ensuring timely approval, resolving invoice queries, and reconciling supplier statements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process supplier invoices into the accounting system using P2P technology, ensuring accurate coding and matching with purchase orders.
  • Track and follow up on invoice approvals from relevant departments, ensuring timely approval to avoid payment delays.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies or queries related to supplier invoices, liaising with suppliers and internal departments to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Regularly reconcile supplier statements to ensure all invoices and payments are accounted for, identifying and rectifying any discrepancies between supplier statements and company records.
  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders, providing support and information as needed to the Purchase Ledger Supervisor and other team members.
  • Assist with the preparation of payment runs, ensuring payments are processed in accordance with agreed terms and conditions.
  • Support month-end closing activities, including preparing necessary reports and reconciliations, and provide support to the Purchase Ledger Supervisor during the month-end and year-end close processes.
Requirements:
  • AAT Level 2 or higher preferred.
  • Excellent Microsoft Skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Previous Purchase Ledger experience in a busy office environment.
  • Previous experience of Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Confident with working high volumes of data while maintaining a high standard of accuracy.
  • Able to identify, challenge, and recommend process improvements.
  • Strong focus on customer success.
  • Organized and resilient under pressure.
  • Positive attitude, keen passion for driving efficiency, and self-development along with strong team orientation.
