Position Overview

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Thoracic/Cardiothoracic Radiologist to join our dedicated team. This role focuses on cross-sectional imaging within the thoracic and cardiothoracic domains. While experience in interventional procedures is appreciated, it is not a prerequisite. This is a newly established position aimed at enhancing our thoracic service alongside our existing team of experienced Consultants.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be a radiologist with a keen interest in thoracic and cardiothoracic imaging. Although interventional skills are valued, they are not mandatory. The primary workplace will be within our trust, with potential responsibilities at additional locations.

The successful applicant will engage in the general diagnostic functions of the department, including participation in on-call duties, which are currently managed by Specialist Trainees under Consultant oversight. The on-call service operates on a 1 in 14 basis, covering evenings and weekends, with provisions for remote reporting and flexible working arrangements.

Collaboration with fellow consultants and multidisciplinary team members is essential to foster and advance our services.

Professional Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council and a valid license to practice.
  • Recognition as a Clinical Supervisor as per GMC Trainer standards.
  • Entry on the Specialist Register.
  • PGME Supervisor Status.
  • Demonstrated clinical knowledge and expertise.

Desirable Criteria

  • Evidence of accredited clinical and educational supervision of medical learners.
  • FRCR or equivalent training and experience.
  • Broad experience in managing various aspects of Radiology.

Research and Development

Essential

  • Proven research skills, including publication of research articles and understanding of research methodologies.

Desirable

  • Further evidence of research contributions and publications.

Interpersonal Skills

Essential

  • Positive attitude towards collaboration with healthcare team members.
  • Commitment to shared goals and effective partnership working.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for report writing and presentations.
