Position Overview:

The Procurement Strategist plays a pivotal role in managing and optimizing spend within their designated category. This position is crucial for implementing effective strategies aimed at achieving cost efficiency while fostering strong supplier relationships and mitigating risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage category spend through the execution of strategic procurement initiatives.
  • Utilize established strategies to drive cost savings, enhance supplier relationships, and manage associated risks.
  • Establish and oversee performance metrics to ensure suppliers meet required standards for delivery and quality.
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders, demonstrating urgency in meeting customer timelines while continuously enhancing business acumen.

Main Duties:

  • Implement procurement strategies through effective stakeholder engagement and theme execution.
  • Identify and cultivate new supplier opportunities, focusing on cost-effective regions.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key site and stakeholder leadership.
  • Manage supplier relationships and associated risks effectively.
  • Collaborate with internal partners and suppliers to develop sourcing strategies that minimize risks and costs.
  • Establish, monitor, and manage performance metrics for suppliers.
  • Drive competitive bidding processes to achieve optimal results.
  • Analyze market data and trends to inform strategic decisions.
  • Work collaboratively with a focus on meeting customer deadlines.
  • Engage and influence both internal and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Support the Operational Purchasing team regarding product flow and obsolescence as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in aerospace or other regulated industries, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and manufacturing processes.
  • A degree in Purchasing & Supply or CIPs qualification is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning for cost reduction and vendor management.
  • Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in Excel and presentation creation.
  • Demonstrated success in enhancing supplier relations and reducing costs and lead times.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
