Accounting Leader

Adecco UK is partnering with a growing SME business to recruit for a Finance Manager. This role will initially start as a 2-3 days per week position; however, due to the growth within the business, it has the potential to progress to a full-time permanent role.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting: Review and prepare management accounts for a portfolio of UK companies.
  2. Financial Record Management: Maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial records to ensure they are up-to-date and correctly maintained.
  3. Accounting Process Management: Ensure the accuracy of entries into the ledger accounts and subsidiary accounts to the general ledger.
  4. Financial Analysis: Analyse current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to predict future revenues and expenses.
  5. Accounting Process Improvement: Ensure all accounting processes are followed and improved.
  6. General Ledger Management: Take full responsibility for critical month-end activities, including accruals, prepayments, and journal entries, to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  7. Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare monthly management accounts, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and other financial reports & analysis.
  8. Cash Flow Management: Ensure efficient cash flow management by preparing and executing weekly payment runs and forecasting immediate financial requirements.
  9. Business Performance Insights: Support the preparation of month-end KPIs and dashboards to provide insights into business performance.
  10. Financial Expertise: Experience with AP/AR and posting journals, including inventory management experience.
  11. Project Leadership: Lead project work, such as financial investigations and occasional client secondments.

Requirements:

  1. Accounting Qualification: Qualified/Part-qualified and working towards an accountancy qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  2. Financial Experience: Proven financial/management accounting experience, preferably beyond audit environments.
  3. IT Skills: Excellent IT skills, with experience in accounting software like Xero.
  4. Communication Skills: Ability to work with non-finance peers.
  5. Accounting Knowledge: Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
