Job Summary

Billinghay Medical Practice is seeking a skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our clinical team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our practice.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Receiving and reviewing patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems, making assessments of their healthcare needs, and providing appropriate care and treatment.
  • Managing patients presenting with a range of acute and chronic medical conditions, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, and referrals.
  • Identifying, managing, and supporting patients at risk of developing long-term conditions, preventing adverse effects on their health.
  • Providing advanced, specialist nursing care to patients as required, in accordance with clinical evidence, NICE guidelines, and BNF guidelines.
  • Requesting, processing, and interpreting pathology services as necessary.
  • Undertaking vaccinations, such as the flu vaccination.
  • Acting as clinical governance lead for the Practice in areas of special interest and ensuring significant events are reported using Practice procedures.
  • Undertaking the Practice Duty role and supporting the team in dealing with clinical emergencies.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and entering data onto the computer using agreed Read Codes.
  • Collecting data and participating in regular Practice audit and research projects.
  • Contributing to the preparation of any Practice development plans.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Effective time management and the ability to plan and organize their own workload.
  • Ability to work as a team member and autonomously.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to follow policy and procedure.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience working independently in a Nurse Practitioner role.
  • Previous experience within a primary care network or general practice setting.
  • Previous experience in patient triage.
  • Clinical examination skills across a diverse range of patients, including both children and adults.

Desirable qualifications include experience using SystmOne and Ask My GP triage system.

The successful candidate must hold a valid RGN qualification, be a qualified Independent Nurse Prescriber registered with the NMC, and meet NMC revalidation requirements as outlined in the NMC Revalidation booklet.
