Job Summary

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer - Building Services to join our team in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, or Newcastle office on a hybrid basis. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing detailed design calculations and sketches in accordance with project requirements, liaising with senior engineers and engineering technicians, and working on survey, design, specification, and contract administration processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed design calculations and sketches in accordance with project requirements
  • Liaise with senior engineers and engineering technicians regarding design and drawing
  • Work on survey, design, specification, and contract administration processes
  • Carry out detailed electrical building services design engineering on new build and refurbishment construction projects
  • Assist senior staff in feasibility studies, concept, and scheme design stages
  • Attend design team meetings and inspect and report on electrical building services systems
  • Utilize building services software for calculations and produce marked-up drawings for CAD or direct CAD design drawings for issue
  • Select and specify products, equipment, and installation standards relating to electrical services

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience commensurate with the underpinning and knowledge requirements for Incorporated Engineer aligned to IET or CIBSE requirements
  • Ability to design principal electrical systems from concept to detailed design, including low voltage electrical distribution, internal and external lighting, small power and fixed power, power supplies for mechanical and fixed power supplies, fire alarm and detection, ICT structured cabling, and cable containment
  • Understanding of building regulations and compliance associated with electrical systems
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
