Role Objective

The primary aim of this role is to proficiently assist and oversee the Bank's strategy towards first Line Operational Risk. Collaborate with the Quality Assurance Manager to establish a premier 'Go To' team for expertise and instill a culture of 'Right First Time' throughout the Customer Journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting a comprehensive suite of Quality Assurance and Thematic Review assessments.
  • Assisting with Compliance Monitoring from the second line of defense, as well as Internal and External Audits related to annual Quality Assurance reviews.
  • Regularly evaluating to identify potential Risks to the Bank and Customers through thorough End-to-End checks.
  • Supporting the creation of high-quality reports and presentation materials for key stakeholders.
  • Delivering Quality Assurance reporting on findings and tracking progress to ensure effective closure of activities.
  • Assisting in the reporting and presentation of performance metrics in relation to the control framework.
  • Conducting Compliance Monitoring for scheduled reviews and updating relevant Procedures and Processes.
  • Collaborating with the Quality Assurance and Procedure Manager on ad-hoc and change initiatives.
  • Preparing monthly Quality Assurance reports for submission to the Operations Risk & Assurance Forum.
  • Performing any other duties that align with the grade and level of responsibility of this role, provided the necessary experience and/or training is available.

Essential Skills

  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint as a minimum).
  • Familiarity with UK banking practices (Customer Service, Credit, Financial Crime, Operations) and risk management principles pertinent to the three lines of defense model.
  • Understanding of compliance with group policies, including Conduct Risk.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, coupled with a proactive attitude and strong teamwork capabilities.
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and organizational skills.
  • Able to perform under pressure, whether independently or as part of a small team.
  • Willingness to challenge, collaborate, and adapt as necessary.
  • Knowledge and experience of best practices and governance frameworks within the UK regulated financial services context.
  • Understanding of risk control arrangements and regulatory environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in a Risk/Controls Quality Assurance role within a financial institution.
  • Awareness of Regulatory requirements and Conduct rules (CONC, COBS, BCOBS, MCOB, SYSC, DISP).
