About the Role

The Business Acceptance Unit (BAU) is a key department within the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) Directorate at Addleshaw Goddard. As a Conflicts Assistant, you will be part of a team of 25 Assistants, Advisors, and Team Leaders responsible for conflict checking, client and matter onboarding, and compliance file audit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and filter conflict search results, conducting legal and commercial analysis of potential conflict and confidentiality issues.
  • Analyse confidential records to assess relevance and support the General Counsel and Risk Lawyers (GC&R) team in referrals to the Conflicts Committee/Conflicts Partner.
  • Liaise with colleagues, partners, and GC&R in relation to potential issues and general queries.
  • Process all queries received into the team's inbox, including the creation and maintenance of information barriers, processing of extend reports, and other ad-hoc tasks.
  • Monitor in and outbound workflow to ensure internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are achieved.
  • Compile Management Information (MI) statistics for stakeholders.
  • Undertake project work in relation to BAU workflows, monitoring systems, and controls.
Requirements
  • Experience in dealing with conflict check processing or strong knowledge of conflicts gained from a legal role.
  • Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to work with large volumes of data and competing deadlines.
  • Capable of using own initiative with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Excellent service orientation skills, a self-starter with experience of working within service levels.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to communicate appropriately both verbally and in writing.
  • Adaptable and flexible.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office software, i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel.
