Job Summary
Wood is seeking a highly skilled Senior Fire Engineer to join our team in the UK. As a key member of our Fire and Gas (F&G) Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing fire and gas detection systems for our clients in the gas plant industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop fire and gas detection systems designs tailored to gas plant specifications and industry standards.
- Prepare design-related documents, including detailed design specifications, cause and effects diagrams, functional diagrams, and fire and gas philosophies.
- Implement control systems for fire and gas detection, ensuring seamless integration with existing plant safety systems.
- Ensure all fire and gas detection systems comply with relevant UK safety standards and regulations for gas plants.
- Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and improve system reliability.
- Lead projects related to the installation and upgrade of fire and gas detection systems in gas plants.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success in gas plant settings.
- Maintain detailed records of system designs, installations, maintenance activities, and compliance checks.
- Provide regular reports on system performance, incidents, and improvements to management.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and managing fire and gas detection systems in gas plant settings.
- Strong knowledge of UK safety standards and regulations related to fire and gas detection.
- Formal training in engineering design software packages.
- Exposure to design concepts using 3D software.
- Experience working with all disciplines and departments to meet deadlines.
- Capable use of discipline software and proactive encouragement of development.
- Installation/administration experience with CAD packages.
- Flexible with a can-do attitude.
- Competent in knowledge of regulatory framework and associated legislation.
- Demonstrate continual professional development.
