Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Groom to join our Equestrian Centre team at Stowe School. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional care and attention to our horses, as well as assisting with the day-to-day running of the centre.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Equestrian Centre team in performing daily stable management tasks, including mucking out, feeding, exercising, and grooming horses.
  • Deputise for the Head of Equestrian in their absence, covering their duties and responsibilities.
  • Support the Equestrian Centre in providing a professional livery service, ensuring the highest standards of horse care and welfare.
  • Ensure adherence to Health and Safety legislation and working procedures that affect the facility, horses, and staff.
  • Act in a professional manner at all times towards pupils, parents, colleagues, and horses.
  • Complete relevant DBS verification and maintain confidentiality on all school matters.
Requirements:
  • Minimum BHS stage 1 or equivalent qualification.
  • Knowledge of basic stable management skills and ability to promote the care and welfare of horses.
  • Ability to ride horses and ponies for exercise and assist pupils while riding.
  • Good communication and written skills, with the ability to work positively with a wide range of staff.
  • 1 year's equine experience and knowledge of BHS/ABRS qualifications.
Working Hours:

The successful candidate will work within a flexible working pattern, including evenings and weekends, with an average of 40 hours per week, working 5 or 5 1/2 out of 7 days on a rota basis for 52 weeks per year.
