We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to join our team as an Assistant Director, Mergers. As a key member of our Mergers team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that mergers bring benefits to the economy and help businesses and markets grow.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Mergers Directors in leading on either Phase 1 or Phase 2 merger control cases, helping to set the overall direction and strategy for a case and ensuring that decisions are robust and delivered in a timely and efficient manner.
- Lead, motivate and manage multi-disciplinary professional teams, fostering effective and collaborative team working.
- Oversee and advise case teams on evidence analysis.
- Develop and maintain open, professional and proactive engagement with parties and other external stakeholders, often at very senior levels.
- A proven track record of undertaking projects related to merger control or other competition/antitrust cases, as a lawyer, project delivery professional, or economist.
- Significant experience of leading and developing staff and motivating professional teams in the delivery of successful projects (or work streams within projects).
- Significant experience of making decisions, using sound analysis and judgement, taking account of the wider context.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to draft a range of documents for a wide variety of audiences.
- Strong experience of working collaboratively and building relationships internally and externally, including with senior decision-makers and stakeholders.

As a member of the Competition & Markets Authority, you will receive a competitive salary of £78,600, plus a contribution of £22,770 towards your pension. You will also have access to a range of benefits, including:
