Job Summary
The Service Technician provides high-quality, efficient, and timely repair, preventative maintenance, and installation of Cook capital equipment at customers' facilities to ensure that the equipment is performing in accordance with system requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Read, understand, and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Read from simple to complex drawings to build and repair equipment.
- Perform scheduled maintenance on field-based installed equipment.
- Provide legible and accurate documentation.
- Work with hand/manually-powered tools and some power tools to set up and operate equipment.
- Respond with limited notice to requests from within the territory, such as emergency service requests, preventative maintenance requests, and/or installation requests.
- Maintain excellent customer relations skills, including the ability to explain and train.
- Perform work in compliance with Cook Quality System.
- Utilize excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in collaborative and independent work situations and environments with minimal supervision.
- Ability to stay focused and on task.
- Complete quality work within acceptable time frames.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Maintain company quality and quantity standards.
- Ability to remain calm and receptive in fast-paced situations.
Requirements
- Two-year technical degree in electronics or Biotechnology; will consider a Bachelor's degree in lieu of technical degree.
- Strong math skills and technical aptitude.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software (. Word, Excel).
- Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing work schedules.
- Ability to travel approximately 80%.
- Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds.
- Utilizes close visual acuity for working with computers, machinery, etc.
- Work with chemicals such as adhesives, acetone, and isopropyl alcohol.
- Able to do continuous repetitive motions using hands.
- Good eyesight, hand dexterity, and attention to detail.
- Frequently required to stand for extended periods, walk, use hands to grasp, carry, feel, or touch; reach with hands and arms.
Working Conditions
The Service Technician will work in a fast-paced environment, frequently traveling to customers' facilities to perform maintenance and repairs. The position requires excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
