At Manpower RPO - Babcock, we are dedicated to fostering a secure and sustainable environment, and as a Lead Plant Engineering Specialist, you will play a pivotal role at our Devonport Royal Dockyard facility.
Key Responsibilities
In your capacity as a Lead Plant Engineering Specialist, you will engage in unique challenges. Your primary focus will be to assist in the maintenance and operational integrity of facilities that support the MOD Nuclear Submarine program.
Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Leading a team tasked with executing nuclear safety case requirements for the operation of the nuclear dock and its associated facilities.
- Facilitating the successful and secure execution of work packages on-site, ensuring all necessary safety controls are established prior to significant nuclear operations.
- Overseeing and managing work control, site operations, plant maintenance, and routine facility requirements.
- Contributing to projects aimed at designing and implementing new engineering solutions and infrastructure to enhance future nuclear facility capabilities.
This position is full-time, comprising 35 hours per week, with a hybrid working model allowing for 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days remote work.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in high-hazard industries, preferably within the nuclear sector, RAD-Waste, or other hazardous environments (oil and gas experience is also considered).
- Proven track record in managing operations in high-risk settings, including change management and problem-solving expertise.
- Experience in team leadership or stakeholder management, including mentoring graduate engineers.
- Proficiency in implementing risk assessments and safety case protocols.
Educational Requirements
- Level 5 qualifications (HNC/HND) or equivalent higher-level education, alongside relevant experience.
- Level 6 STEM degree is desirable.
Security Clearance
The ideal candidate must be a sole UK national capable of obtaining and maintaining Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance.
