Job Title: Senior Maintenance Engineer

BSI is seeking a highly skilled Senior Maintenance Engineer to join our team at our Hemel Hempstead testing lab. As a key member of the Lab Support team, you will work closely with the design team, delivery technicians, contractors, and facilities departments to ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of all equipment, machinery, and services at the site.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Coordinate maintenance activities with production and operations teams to minimize downtime and disruptions.
  2. Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues promptly.
  3. Perform necessary repairs and maintenance to ensure optimal equipment functionality.
  4. Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment lifespan and prevent breakdowns.
  5. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
  6. Manage and delegate tasks for reactive maintenance in response to equipment breakdowns.
  7. Ensure reactive maintenance is coordinated with PPM and compliance schedules.
  8. Manage risk assessments, safe systems of work, isolation processes, and contractor/visitor management.
  9. Foster a culture of safety within the maintenance team.
  10. Lead and mentor a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and support.
  11. Promote continuous improvement and high standards of work quality within the team.
  12. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and upgrades.
  13. Analyse maintenance data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for optimization.
Requirements:
  1. Proven experience in maintenance management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  2. In-depth understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  3. Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling.
  4. Familiarity with legal compliance requirements for industrial equipment and facilities.
  5. Awareness of safety regulations and best practices in maintenance operations.
  6. Proficiency in using maintenance planning software and tools (preferably Fluke).
  7. Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
  8. Ability to lead and motivate a team of maintenance technicians.
  9. Capable of developing and implementing effective preventive maintenance programs.
