We are looking for a proactive and skilled Principal / Associate Hydrogeologist to enhance our Contaminated Land & Hydrogeology team. While candidates from the North and Scotland are preferred, we welcome applications from across the nation to foster technical delivery and business growth.

The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in leading and contributing to a variety of stimulating projects. This position involves engaging in both local and national initiatives delivered by AtkinsRéalis across diverse markets, including urban development, transportation, and energy infrastructure. We seek an individual who is passionate about the future of the hydrogeology sector and is eager to advance their career in this dynamic field.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver technical expertise and oversee hydrogeological projects, including site investigation design, supervision, interpretation, and development of comprehensive conceptual site models.
  • Conduct reviews and provide technical oversight of complex groundwater models related to flow, contamination transport, and civil engineering challenges.
  • Assess relevant Environmental Impact Assessment chapters across various projects.
  • Offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff, fostering their professional development.
  • Engage in business development efforts to secure new clients and projects, including bid preparation.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, regulators, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Manage projects effectively, ensuring technical delivery, financial oversight, and adherence to timelines.
  • Commit to personal development and maintain necessary continuing professional development (CPD) with support from the organization.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline (e.g., geology, geotechnics, hydrogeology, chemistry, environmental science).
  • Master's degree in a relevant specialization is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Chartered status with GeolSoc, IES, IEMA, CIWEM, or equivalent is desirable.
  • Post-graduate experience in a consultancy setting, demonstrating a successful track record in delivering high-profile projects.
  • Proficient in preparing and reviewing technical reports for controlled waters risk assessments.
  • Familiarity with analytical modeling software such as P20, ConSim, and RAM, alongside experience in numerical groundwater modeling tools like MODFLOW and FEFLOW.
  • Proven project management experience in hydrogeology, leading teams to achieve high standards of delivery.
  • Strong commercial awareness and capability to complete tenders effectively.
  • Demonstrated success in winning work and managing key client relationships.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK for short-term assignments.
  • Valid UK driving license.
