Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust is pleased to present an exceptional opportunity for a Band 5 Physiotherapy Rotation Specialist. This role provides exposure to a variety of clinical environments, both in community settings and hospital wards. Our organization is dedicated to the professional growth of our staff, offering a comprehensive range of internal training programs tailored to your development needs, including specific training relevant to your assigned location and management skill enhancement.

We are in search of a passionate and driven Physiotherapist to join our integrated teams, collaborating with seasoned therapists and therapy assistants, while working closely with nursing staff. The role requires travel to various clinics and patient homes, thus a valid driving license and access to transportation are essential.

To qualify, candidates must possess a BSc/MSc in Physiotherapy and be registered with the HCPC, or be an undergraduate nearing completion of their studies. This position is also open to those re-entering the profession.

Flexible working arrangements are available, with potential weekend and evening shifts based on service requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The Post Graduate Physiotherapist Rotational Scheme offers a comprehensive clinical experience. Staff members on the rotation will be expected to engage in various placements throughout the scheme.

Each rotation lasts for six months and currently encompasses the following areas:

  • Community Rehabilitation - Multiple locations
  • Willow Unit - A modern therapy-led center
  • Caroline House - A specialized neurological rehabilitation unit for patients with complex neurological conditions
  • Stroke Early Supported Discharge
  • Community Neurology
  • Social Services
  • Urgent Community Response Teams
  • General In-Patient Rehabilitation

The role involves working across various locations, providing a broad spectrum of clinical exposure.

Job Duties

  • Maintain professional and legal accountability for all aspects of your work.

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients utilizing investigative and analytical skills.
  • Develop individualized management and treatment plans through clinical reasoning and a variety of therapeutic techniques.
  • Participate in diverse rotations to foster both personal and professional growth.
  • Manage a designated patient caseload efficiently, prioritizing clinical needs and time management.
  • Oversee the effective selection and utilization of treatment resources available in the department and on the wards.
  • Communicate effectively with multi-professional team members regarding patient care to ensure a collaborative approach.
  • Engage with patients and their families to maximize rehabilitation potential and ensure understanding of their conditions.
  • Assess patient capacity, obtain informed consent, and navigate legal frameworks for patients who may lack capacity.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to healthcare assistants and assistant practitioners.
  • Support senior staff in providing guidance and education to relatives, caregivers, and other professionals to promote understanding of physiotherapy objectives.
  • Be responsible for the equipment used and adhere to departmental policies regarding equipment usage.
