About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Nursery Practitioner to lead our team of childcare professionals at Sutton Day Nursery. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing a safe, stimulating, and educational environment for children aged 0-5 years.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and motivate a team of nursery practitioners to deliver high-quality childcare services.
  • Develop and implement daily and weekly activity plans that meet the needs of children and promote their physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development.
  • Conduct observations and assessments to track children's progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and partners to integrate the nursery with the wider children's services brand and support the needs of local families.
  • Ensure the nursery environment is clean, safe, and welcoming, and that all necessary procedures and protocols are in place to protect children's welfare.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with parents and carers to keep them informed about their child's progress and involve them in decision-making processes.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in the nursery.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay up-to-date with best practices in childcare and education.
Requirements
  • NVQ Level 3 in Child Development or equivalent.
  • Experience of working with children under 5 years old and their families.
  • Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and principles.
  • Understanding of safeguarding issues and procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and carers.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the nursery and its children.
