Position Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and caring Personal Assistant to provide essential support to a gentleman with a brain injury. The role is focused on assisting him in maintaining his independence and facilitating daily living activities.
Main Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing personal care and assistance with daily hygiene
- Preparing meals and ensuring nutritional needs are met
- Performing light household cleaning tasks
- Accompanying the gentleman during outings
- Encouraging engagement in beneficial activities and routines
Due to mobility challenges, the individual requires assistance with transfers using a stand aid and utilizes a stairlift. Morning support is essential for getting out of bed, dressing, and toileting.
Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, patient, and compassionate
- Trustworthy and able to maintain confidentiality
- A non-smoker
- Fluent in English
- Capable of working independently
Desirable Qualifications:
Candidates with the following attributes will be preferred:
- A full UK driving license, with the ability to drive a mobility vehicle
- Experience or understanding of brain injuries
- Willingness to undertake further training as necessary
Compensation and Benefits:
The position offers:
- A competitive pay rate of £13 per hour
- Reimbursement for agreed expenses
- Access to complimentary Care Skills training for employed staff
- Variable hours and days of work
Additional Requirements:
This role is subject to:
- A satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, funded by the employer
- References from two referees, including one from your most recent employer
- A successful completion of a 3-month probationary period
- Annual training for specific duties related to food handling and manual handling
