About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Research Fellow to join our team at Liverpool John Moores University, working on marine alternative fuels. As a key member of our research team, you will contribute to the EU Horizon-funded project "Retrofit Solutions to Achieve 55% GHG Reduction By 2030", focusing on developing energy-saving solutions for retrofitting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research on marine power, propulsion systems, and alternative fuels
  • Develop and integrate fuel cell-battery systems
  • Design and simulate hybrid powertrain architectures
  • Optimize battery capacity for varying loads
  • Create control strategies for efficient and safe operation of electric and hybrid marine systems
  • Develop and maintain research networks with existing and potential partners
About the Team

You will be part of a world-leading research team, working on cutting-edge initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from existing vessels. Our research outputs are rated 96% world-leading or internationally excellent, and research impacts are rated 100% world-leading or internationally excellent.
