Mental Health Support Worker

About the Role
Gray Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to join our team in supporting a lady with a diagnosis of Paranoid Schizophrenia, EUPD, and Learning Disabilities. The successful candidate will provide 2:1 support 24 hours a day, working in a mixed gender team on mixed shifts of days and waking nights.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support to the individual, promoting independence and well-being.
- Assist with daily living tasks, including cooking, cleaning, and personal care.
- Encourage participation in activities such as swimming, outdoor walks, and bingo.
- Support the individual in accessing the community using their mobility vehicle.
Training and Development
As a new provider to this lady, we are committed to providing extensive training and support. The successful candidate will receive a 2-week training program, including:
- Company Induction – Live online session
- Trauma Informed Care – Live online session
- Medication Compliance – Live online session
- Autism Awareness – Live online session
- Epilepsy Awareness – Live online session
- PROACT-SCIPr-UKTM - a PBS approach to least restrictive practice, a therapeutic and proven alternative to restraint-dominant approaches. 2-day in-person course
- First Aid at Work – 1-day in-person course
- Person Centred training – in-person course specific to the person you will be supporting.
About You
We are looking for individuals with experience of providing support to people with mental health conditions and challenging behaviors. You must have a good understanding of detailed care plans and risk assessments. A driving license is essential, as you will be required to drive the individual's mobility vehicle.
Contract Details
We typically offer contracts of 24, 36, or 42 hours per week, with 12-hour shifts. There may be flexibility around shift patterns to meet the needs of the individual and the team.
Recruitment Process
The recruitment process will involve a telephone interview with a specialist recruiter, followed by an assessment day with key team members. You will also be required to undergo compliance and background checks, including employment references, Right to Work checks, and Enhanced DBS.
