Join our team at Shorterm Group, a leader in the Rail Rolling Stock Manufacturing sector, as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. This exciting opportunity will see you working at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, where you will be the subject matter expert specifically within our car-bodies/welding department.

Role Profile:

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing processes scope from inception to delivery, covering technical review, BOMs maintenance, tooling, technical support, methods/process development, design study, workstation layout, and more. You will ensure best practice and innovation throughout the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review technical design drawings and specifications
  • Creation, review, and maintenance of MBOMs & SOPS
  • Continuous improvements of workstation layouts and storage areas
  • Reviewing specification and evaluating of production tools
  • Producing business cases for Capex projects
  • Design and acquisition of relevant jigs and fixtures
  • Providing technical support to all staff to ensure technical specifications are achieved in line with all manufacturing competencies, SOPs, MBOMBs, SOPS, and equipment provided
  • Full responsibility for the implementation of design changes, including MCN management
  • Mentorship and training of Junior Engineers where appropriate
Requirements:
  • A strong background in manufacturing/production engineering is a must
  • A HNC qualification or above in some form of Engineering discipline
  • Candidates must have an understanding of welding procedures and processes
  • Experience using SAP systems would be advantageous
