Role Overview
We are seeking a Lead Produce Buyer to optimize our supply chain and product offerings. This role is essential in leveraging data and insights to enhance sales performance, profitability, and market share in alignment with Ocado Retail's strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the category's profit and loss, ensuring targets are met.
- Conduct comprehensive category assessments to refine product range and align with business strategies.
- Develop and execute promotional and trading plans.
- Identify strategies to enhance customer engagement.
- Negotiate with suppliers to improve margins and achieve cost savings.
- Utilize data analytics to address performance challenges and identify opportunities.
- Source innovative products exclusive to Ocado, guided by market insights.
- Collaborate with the Trading Manager to shape category strategies.
- Ensure product range adjustments align with overarching business goals.
- Manage supplier relationships to drive engagement and performance.
- Work with merchandise planning to guarantee optimal product availability.
- Proactively develop contingency plans for potential supply disruptions.
- Ensure product quality meets Ocado's high standards through collaboration with suppliers.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to category assistants to help them achieve their objectives.
Candidate Profile
- Extensive experience (5+ years) in retail buying, with some leadership experience.
- A passion for the retail and food sectors.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and experience with data analysis.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.
- Exceptional negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
- Strong project management skills.
- Adept at analyzing complex data sets.
